A Few Of My Favourite things

Movies

Dead Poets Society

This film changed me. It taught me how to live deep and appreciate life in a way that I never otherwise would've. If my parents were less supportive, I could've been Neil Perry, and I'm so lucky and grateful that I was raised in such a caring and supportive environment. Carpe Diam!

(500) Days Of Summer

Wrongfully labelled as a rom-com on Disney+, (500) Days of Summer is an excellent deconstruction of the Manic Pixie Dream Girl trope complete with two very flawed leads. Tom is a complete dick, trying to create his ideal relationship regardless of what Summer wanted. Summer isn't completely in the right either, though, as she did let the two become close despite telling him she didn't want anything serious. As much as I hate to say it, she did somewhat 'lead him on'.

La La Land

What can I say about La La Land that hasn't already been said? Stunning cinematography, a killer soundtrack and absolutely incredible performances from Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. I laughed and cried in equal (and great) measure. Every time I think about it I have to resist the urge to turn on the TV and watch it again. It's just that good.
